Advisory Board Vacancies

The Collier County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications for positions on several advisory committees. Instructions on how to apply are at the bottom of this page.

The Animal Services Advisory Committee has three vacancies, one at-large position, one representative of District 2 and one representative for District 3. Applicants for representative seats must be nominated by the Commissioner of the district they reside in. This 7-member committee was created to make recommendations to the County Manager on various Domestic Animal Services matters including, operational review of the facilities, staffing, medical considerations, volunteer and behavior programs, community outreach, fiscal review, accountability and reporting.  Terms are 4 years. 

The Black Affairs Advisory Board has two vacancies. This nine-member committee identifies and evaluates problems unique to the Black Community, reviews and recommends ways to ensure open communication between minorities and Collier County Government and provides periodic reports to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are four years.

The Coastal Advisory Committee has one vacant seat for a Collier County resident. This nine-member committee assists the Board of County Commissioners with its establishment of unified beach erosion control and inlet management programs within the unincorporated and incorporated areas of Collier County, and advises the Board of County Commissioners and the Tourist Development Council (TDC) of project priorities with respect to funding sources that are available to Collier County for restoration and protection of its shoreline.  Selection for membership on this committee will be based upon the applicant’s familiarity with coastal processes, inlet dynamics, coastal management programs, or demonstrated interest in such programs; relevant education and experience; leadership and involvement in community affairs; and willingness to attend meetings and to undertake and complete assignments. Terms are 4 years. 

The Code Enforcement Board has a vacancy for one regular member seat and two vacancies for alternate members. This seven member board with two alternates is composed of individuals representing the occupations of architect, business owner, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and realtor, who are considered on the basis of their experience or interest in the areas of the codes and ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3 years. This is a Quasi-Judicial Board.

The County Government Productivity Committee has one vacant seat for a representative in District 5. Applicants for commission district seats must be nominated by the commissioner of the district they reside in. This committee reviews the efficiency of departments of county government under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners, and reports its findings and recommendations to the BCC. Terms are two years.

The Development Services Advisory Committee has four seats expiring in December. Members must be one of the following: architect, attorney, land developer, land planner; environmentalist; professional engineer; general contractor; residential/commercial contractor; or utility, plumbing, or electrical contractor.  This 16-member committee represents the various aspects of the development industry. The purpose of this committee is to provide reports and recommendations to the BCC to assist in the enhancement of operational efficiency and budgetary accountability within the Growth Management Department and to serve as a primary communication link between the Growth Management Department, the development industry and the citizens of Collier County.  Terms are 4 years.

The Educational Facilities Authority has one vacant seat. The purpose of this five member authority is to assist institutions for higher education in the construction, financing, and refinancing of projects. One member shall be a trustee, director, officer, or employee of an institution for higher education located in Collier County. Terms are five years.

The Golden Gate Beautification Advisory Committee has two vacancies. This five-member committee advises and recommends as to the beautification and maintenance of landscape improvements within the road right of way as described by ordinance boundaries. The committee shall prepare an itemized budget of the amount of money required to carry out the business of the committee for the next fiscal year. Members must be residents of one of the following precincts: 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, and part of 322. Terms are four years.

The Golden Gate City Economic Development Zone Advisory Board has four vacancies and three additional seats expiring in January. Applicants must either be residents of Golden Gate City or represent business and commercial interests in the Golden Gate City Economic Development Zone. This seven-member committee was formed for the purpose of advising the BCC concerning policies and programs to attract businesses or industries to the Economic Development Zone and reviewing and making recommendations on applications for funding through the Trust Fund. Terms are two years.

The Golden Gate Community Center Advisory Board has one seat expiring in December. Members must reside within the boundaries of the Golden Gate Community Center Municipal Services Special Taxing District.  This five-member committee advises the Board of County Commissioners on the budget and operation of the Golden Gate Community Center.  Terms are three years.

The Golden Gate Estates Land Trust Committee has two vacant seats.  This five-member committee was created to carry out the various requirements and provisions of an Agreement relating to land conveyed to the County by Avatar Properties, Inc. (f/k/a GAC Properties, Inc.). Members must reside within one of the 5 phases within the Golden Gate Estates area. Terms are four years.

The Health Facilities Authority has three vacancies. The purpose of this five-member authority is to assist health facilities in the acquisition, construction, financing and refinancing of projects in any incorporated or unincorporated area within the geographical limits of Collier County. Terms are four years.

The Historic/Archaeological Preservation Board has one vacancy. Applicants shall have demonstrated interest in the field of historical and archaeological preservation, with expertise in one of the following categories: 1) History; 2) Archaeology; 3) Real Estate, Land Development, or Finance; 4) Architecture, Engineering, or Construction; 5) Law or Urban Planning; or 6) citizen-at-large. This seven-member committee is vested with the power, authority, and jurisdiction to designate, regulate, and administer historical and archaeological resources in Collier County. Terms are three years.

The Infrastructure Surtax Citizen Oversight Committee has one current vacancy for a District 3 representative, and two At-Large seats expiring in January. Applicants should have background and experience related to financial or business management. This committee provides citizen review of the County’s expenditure of the proceeds from the Collier County and Municipal Infrastructure One-Cent Sales Surtax. Terms are two years.

The Lely Golf Estates Beautification Advisory Committee has one vacancy. This five-member committee prepares and recommends an itemized budget for the Lely Golf Estates Beautification Municipal Service Taxing Unit and aids and assists the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the services of the taxing unit. Members must reside within the boundaries of the municipal service taxing unit. Terms are four years.

The Ochopee Fire Control District Advisory Committee has one vacancy and two additional seats expiring in December for applicants residing in the Ochopee Area Fire Control Special Taxing District. This five-member committee advises the Board of County Commissioners on the budget and operation of the Ochopee Fire Control District. Terms are two years.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has two current vacancies and two additional seats expiring in December. This seven-member committee advises the BCC on any matters concerning acquisition, development and programs involving parks and recreation facilities in Collier County. Membership consists of one member from the Immokalee Community Park District and six members from the Naples and Urban Area Community Park District. Terms are four years.

The Public Transit Advisory Committee has one vacancy. Applicants are sought in the categories of: transportation and planning professionals, health care services, and transit riders. This seven-member committee makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners in matters related to transit policies, issues, programs and plans to provide mass transit services to the citizens of Collier County. Terms are three years.

The Radio Road Beautification Advisory Committee has two vacant seats. This five-member committee aids and assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of providing curbing, watering facilities, plantings and maintenance of the median areas as set forth in Ordinance No. 96-84. The committee shall recommend work programs and priorities to the County Administrator. Members shall be permanent residents within the MSTU. Terms are four years.

The Vanderbilt Beach Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee has one seat expiring in November. Members must be permanent residents within the MSTU boundaries. This committee assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of the MSTU, prepares and recommends to the BCC an itemized budget for the MSTU, and recommends work programs and priorities to the County Manager. Terms are 4 years.

The Water and Wastewater Authority has one vacant seat. This five-member authority regulates utility rates and related matters regarding non-exempt water and wastewater utilities in unincorporated Collier County. Three members shall be technical in nature, with expertise in engineering, finance and/or business administration. The remaining two members shall be lay members, appointed on the basis of individual civic pride, integrity, and experience in any area of regulation. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 4 years. This is a quasi-judicial board.
