Mission Statement

Collier County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is committed to bringing compassionate and timely life-saving emergency medical care to the streets, homes, and workplaces, making Collier County a safer and healthier place to live and visit. Collier EMS strives to continuously improve the EMS System with the changing needs of our community in pursuit of pre-hospital emergency medical care excellence.

About Us

Collier County Emergency Medical Services responds to more than 48,000 9-1-1 calls annually. Currently, Collier EMS runs 25 stations with 26 full time ground transport ambulances as well as two MedFlight helicopters available for emergency response 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Board of County Commissioners established the Collier County Department of Emergency Medical Services in 1981. The department is a consolidated agency that provides emergency medical services for the cities of Naples, Marco Island, Everglades, as well as all unincorporated areas including North Naples, East Naples, Golden Gate, Big Corkscrew and Immokalee.

The department strategically places ambulances throughout the 2,025 square miles of Collier County for quick response capability. Many of EMS's 200+ paramedics and emergency medical technicians are cross-trained as firefighters.

Awards and Honors

CAAS Accreditation

The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) is an independent Commission that established a comprehensive series of standards for the ambulance service industry. CAAS accreditation signifies that your service has met the "gold standard" determined by the ambulance industry to be essential in a modern emergency medical services provider. These standards often exceed those established by state or local regulation. The CAAS standards are designed to increase operational efficiency and clinical quality, while decreasing risk and liability to the organization. As of 2015, there are only 11 credited ambulance service agencies in the state of Florida and 151 in the Country.

CAMTS Accreditation

The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) announced that Collier County MedFlight, a County EMS run rotor-wing service, was awarded accreditation on June 3, 2015. MedFlight provides highly skilled flight paramedic teams to care for adult or pediatric patients in Collier County and the surrounding counties.

CAMTS is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and safety of medical transport services. There are 19 current member organizations (the each of which sends one representative to the CAMTS Board of Directors). The Commission offers a program of voluntary evaluation of compliance with accreditation standards and demonstrating the ability to deliver service of a specific quality.

The Commission believes that the two highest priorities of an air medical transport service are patient care and safety of the transport environment. The Commission's standards often exceed state or local licensing requirements. In order to obtain accreditation, a medical transport service must be in substantial compliance with the Accreditation Standards.

Collier County MedFlight is one of four rotorwing programs accredited in the state of Florida and only the second public service organization to be awarded accreditation in the United States of America. This marks a significant milestone in the progression of the MedFlight program and comes during its 40th anniversary serving Collier County.

AED Registration

Collier County EMS participates with PulsePoint, a mobile phone application purchased by Collier County Sheriff's Department that allows users to view and receive alerts on calls being responded to by fire departments and emergency medical services. Read more about PulsePoint or Download PulsePoint today!

The app's main feature is that it sends alerts to users at the same time that dispatchers are sending the call to emergency crews. The goal is to increase the possibility that a victim in cardiac arrest will receive cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) quickly. The app uses the current location of a user and will alert them if someone in their vicinity is in need of CPR.
