Floodplain Management Planning Committee (FMPC)
Unincorporated Collier County is a voluntary participant of the National Flood Insurance Program's Community Rating System (CRS) and currently holds a Class 5 rating with the CRS program. As a participant of the CRS program with at least ten Repetitive Loss Properties, Unincorporated Collier County is required to develop and maintain a Floodplain Management Plan. To meet the CRS requirement, the Floodplain Management Planning Committee (FMPC)was created to develop and maintain the Floodplain Management Plan. The Floodplain Management Plan promotes awareness of the floodplain, assesses flooding issues, and sets goals to make the community more resistant to flooding. The FMPC meets quarterly and is required to give an annual progress report to the Board of County Commissioners. The Floodplain Management Plan is updated every five years. The FMPC members are appointed by the County Manager and include up to eight members of the public, incorporated municipalities within Collier County (if they wish to participate,) and Collier County Staff.
