Advisory Board Vacancies
The Collier County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications for positions on several advisory committees. Instructions on how to apply are at the bottom of this page.
The Bayshore Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee has one vacant seat. Applicants must be a permanent resident or owner of commercial property within the MSTU. This 7 member committee assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of providing curbing, watering facilities, plantings and maintenance of the median strips of roadways within the MSTU; providing traffic calming improvements; and beautification and maintenance of other areas within the MSTU. Members will prepare and recommend an itemized budget to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are four years.
The Bayshore/Gateway Triangle Local Redevelopment Advisory Board has one vacant seat, in the category of a Davis Blvd business owner. This nine-member board assists in the implementation of the redevelopment plan for the Bayshore/Gateway Triangle area. Terms are three years.
The Black Affairs Advisory Board has two seats expiring in June. This nine-member committee identifies and evaluates problems unique to the Black Community, reviews and recommends ways to ensure open communication between minorities and Collier County Government and provides periodic reports to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are four years.
The Coastal Advisory Committee has one seat expiring in May for a Collier County resident. This nine-member committee assists the Board of County Commissioners with its establishment of unified beach erosion control and inlet management programs within the unincorporated and incorporated areas of Collier County, and advises the Board of County Commissioners and the Tourist Development Council (TDC) of project priorities with respect to funding sources that are available to Collier County for restoration and protection of its shoreline. Selection for membership on this committee will be based upon the applicant’s familiarity with coastal processes, inlet dynamics, coastal management programs, or demonstrated interest in such programs; relevant education and experience; leadership and involvement in community affairs; and willingness to attend meetings and to undertake and complete assignments. Terms are 4 years.
The Code Enforcement Board has two current vacancies for alternate members. This seven member board with two alternates is composed of individuals representing the occupations of architect, business owner, engineer, general contractor, subcontractor and realtor, who are considered on the basis of their experience or interest in the areas of the codes and ordinances to be enforced. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 3 years. This is a Quasi-Judicial Board.
The Contractors Licensing Board has two seats expiring in June. One for a consumer representative and one for a building professional. Consumer applicants should have no ties to the construction industry. *Residents of Marco Island are especially encouraged to apply.* Building professional applicants should be either a licensed architect, a licensed general contractor, a licensed engineer, a licensed electrical contractor, a licensed plumbing contractor, a licensed mechanical contractor, a licensed roofing contractor, a licensed residential, or a licensed building contractor. This nine-member board has the power to determine the qualifications of applicants for the Contractors' Certificates of Competency, and to hold disciplinary hearings. Terms are three years. This is a Quasi-Judicial Board.
The County Government Productivity Committee has three vacant seats. There is an open seat for a representative in District 5 as well as two At-Large seats. Applicants for commission district seats must be nominated by the commissioner of the district they reside in. This committee reviews the efficiency of departments of county government under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners, and reports its findings and recommendations to the BCC. Terms are two years.
The Educational Facilities Authority has one vacant seat. The purpose of this five member authority is to assist institutions for higher education in the construction, financing, and refinancing of projects. One member shall be a trustee, director, officer, or employee of an institution for higher education located in Collier County. Terms are five years.
The Golden Gate Beautification Advisory Committee has one vacancy. This five member committee advises and recommends as to the beautification and maintenance of landscape improvements within the road right of way as described by ordinance boundaries. The committee shall prepare an itemized budget of the amount of money required to carry out the business of the committee for the next fiscal year. Members must be residents of one of the following precincts: 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, and part of 322. Terms are four years.
The Golden Gate City Economic Development Zone Advisory Board has four vacancies. Applicants must either be residents of Golden Gate City or represent business and commercial interests in the Golden Gate City Economic Development Zone. This seven-member committee was formed for the purpose of advising the BCC concerning policies and programs to attract businesses or industries to the Economic Development Zone and reviewing and making recommendations on applications for funding through the Trust Fund. Terms are two years.
The Health Facilities Authority has one vacancy and an additional two seats expiring in May. The purpose of this 5 member authority is to assist health facilities in the acquisition, construction, financing and refinancing of projects in any incorporated or unincorporated area within the geographical limits of Collier County. Terms are four years.
The Industrial Development Authority has two expiring seats in June. This five member authority has the power to sell industrial revenue bonds. Money generated from the bonds is used to construct industrial plants, equipment and other facilities which would then be leased or sold to private industry. Terms are four years.
The Infrastructure Surtax Citizen Oversight Committee has two vacancies. One for a District 3 representative and one for an at-large seat. Applicants should have background and experience related to financial or business management. This committee provides citizen review of the County’s expenditure of the proceeds from the Collier County and Municipal Infrastructure One-Cent Sales Surtax. Terms are two years.
The Ochopee Fire Control District Advisory Committee has one vacancy for applicants residing in the Ochopee Area Fire Control Special Taxing District. This five-member committee advises the Board of County Commissioners on the budget and operation of the Ochopee Fire Control District. Terms are two years.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has one current vacancy, representing the Naples and Urban Area Community Park District. This seven-member committee advises the BCC on any matters concerning acquisition, development and programs involving parks and recreation facilities in Collier County. Membership consists of one member from the Immokalee Community Park District and six members from the Naples and Urban Area Community Park District. Terms are four years.
The Public Art Committee has four vacancies. Applicants should have background and experience related to the visual arts, with preference given to members of local arts organizations, architects, planners, and working artists. This seven-member committee was formed to serve as a forum for advancing public art in Collier County, and to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners in matters relating to public art policies, issues, programs, and plans for the benefit of the citizens of Collier County. Terms are two years.
The Public Transit Advisory Committee has two vacancies. Applicants are sought in the categories of: transportation and planning professionals, health care services, and transit riders. This seven-member committee makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners in matters related to transit policies, issues, programs and plans to provide mass transit services to the citizens of Collier County. Terms are three years.
The Radio Road Beautification Advisory Committee has two vacant seats. This five-member committee aids and assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of providing curbing, watering facilities, plantings and maintenance of the median areas as set forth in Ordinance No. 96-84. The committee shall recommend work programs and priorities to the County Administrator. Members shall be permanent residents within the MSTU. Terms are four years.
The Vanderbilt Waterway MSTU Advisory Committee has two vacant seats. Members must be permanent residents within the MSTU boundaries. This committee assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of the MSTU of providing for dredging and maintenance of the Vanderbilt Waterway between the Bluebill Bridge and the Cocohatchee River, prepares and recommends to the BCC an itemized budget for the MSTU, and recommends work programs and priorities to the County Manager. Terms are 4 years.
The Water and Wastewater Authority has one seat expiring in May for a lay member. This five-member authority regulates utility rates and related matters regarding non-exempt water and wastewater utilities in unincorporated Collier County. Three members shall be technical in nature, with expertise in engineering, finance and/or business administration. The remaining two members shall be lay members, appointed on the basis of individual civic pride, integrity, and experience in any area of regulation. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 4 years. This is a quasi-judicial board.
The East of 951 Ad Hoc Advisory Committee is receiving applications. This committee was established to assist the Board of County Commissioners in identifying issues relating to the geographic area lying east of CR 951 (Collier Boulevard) and north of I-75 (Alligator Alley), and to provide a forum for the citizens of this area to identify and discuss issues facing their community. The committee is composed of five regular members and two alternate members who represent a broad base of residents and business and property owners within the targeted geographic area. This committee shall sunset on April 8, 2026, unless further extended by the BCC.
