Temporary Water Disinfection Change and System Flushing: July 31 to September 18
Collier County Public Utilities will temporarily modify its disinfection process from July 31 to August 28, using free chlorine instead of its standard disinfectant, chloramines. This is a routine practice recommended by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Your water continues to be delivered to you at the highest quality standards.
Concurrently with this change, Collier County Water will flush water mains and fire hydrants from August 2 to September 18. Crews work seven days a week 24 hours a day throughout the service area.
The NotifyNow map will be updated daily to show where flushing is taking place. Visit collier.gov/NotifyNow to view the map or to report a service issue.
Customers may notice:
Temporary changes in taste, odor, or color of tap water.
Cloudy or discolored water during flushing near your location.
Customers should:
Run the tap for several minutes if water appears cloudy or discolored.
Avoid running laundry if water is discolored to prevent staining.
Two customer groups require additional attention during this period:
Home kidney dialysis patients, contact your equipment supplier or physician.
Fish and aquatic pet owners, contact a local fish store for water pretreatment guidance.
For questions, call Collier County Water at 239-252-6245.
