Advisory Board Vacancies
The Collier County Board of County Commissioners is seeking applications for positions on several advisory committees. Instructions on how to apply are at the bottom of this page.
The Bayshore/Gateway Triangle Local Redevelopment Advisory Board has two seats expiring in May. One seat for Davis Boulevard business owner and one seat for an at-large member residing or engaging in business in the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Redevelopment Area. This nine-member board assists in the implementation of the redevelopment plan for the Bayshore/Gateway Triangle area. Terms are three years.
The Black Affairs Advisory Board has two seats expiring in June. This nine member committee identifies and evaluates problems unique to the Black Community, reviews and recommends ways to ensure open communication between minorities and Collier County Government and provides periodic reports to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are four years.
The Collier County Planning Commission has one vacant seat representing Commission District 2. Applicants must be nominated by the Commissioner of the district they reside in. Consideration shall be given to applicants who have experience or who have shown interest in the area of planning, zoning, and related fields. This committee serves as the local planning agency, and reviews and makes recommendations on applications for amendments to the Growth Management Plan, Land Development Code, and the official Zoning Atlas. The committee also sits as the county’s Environmental Advisory Council. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interest each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are four years. This is a Quasi-Judicial Board.
The Contractors Licensing Board has one seat expiring in June for a building professional. Building professional applicants should be either a licensed architect, a licensed general contractor, a licensed engineer, a licensed electrical contractor, a licensed plumbing contractor, a licensed mechanical contractor, a licensed roofing contractor, a licensed residential, or a licensed building contractor. This nine-member board has the power to determine the qualifications of applicants for the Contractors' Certificates of Competency, and to hold disciplinary hearings. Terms are three years. This is a Quasi-Judicial Board.
The County Government Productivity Committee has one vacant seat for a representative in District 5 and two at-large vacancies. There are also four additional at-large seats expiring in March. Applicants for commission district seats must be nominated by the commissioner of the district they reside in. This committee reviews the efficiency of departments of county government under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners and reports its findings and recommendations to the BCC. Terms are two years.
TheDomesticAnimal Services Advisory Committeehas two vacancies, a representative seat for District 5 and a representative seat for District 3. Applicants for representative seats must be nominated by the Commissioner of the district they reside in. This 7-member committee was created to make recommendations to the County Manager on various Domestic Animal Services matters including, operational review of the facilities, staffing, medical considerations, volunteer and behavior programs, community outreach, fiscal review, accountability and reporting. Terms are 4 years.
The Educational Facilities Authority has one vacant seat. The purpose of this five-member authority is to assist institutions for higher education in the construction, financing, and refinancing of projects. One member shall be a trustee, director, officer, or employee of an institution for higher education located in Collier County. Terms are five years.
The Forest Lakes Roadway & Drainage Advisory Committee has two upcoming vacancies in April. This five-member committee assists the Board of County Commissioners in tasks related to providing and maintaining improved roadways, lighting, traffic signs, sidewalks, beautification, and roadway related drainage within the area of the Forest Lakes Roadway & Drainage MSTU. The committee also prepares and recommends to the Board an itemized budget, work programs and priorities. Applicants must reside within the MSTU. Terms are four years.
The Golden Gate Beautification Advisory Committee has two vacancies. This five-member committee advises and recommends as to the beautification and maintenance of landscape improvements within the road right of way as described by ordinance boundaries. The committee shall prepare an itemized budget of the amount of money required to carry out the business of the committee for the next fiscal year. Members must be residents of one of the following precincts: 323, 324, 325, 326, 327, and part of 322. Terms are four years.
The Golden Gate City Economic Development Zone Advisory Board has three vacant seats. Applicants must either be residents of Golden Gate City or represent business and commercial interests in the Golden Gate City Economic Development Zone. This seven-member committee was formed for the purpose of advising the BCC concerning policies and programs to attract businesses or industries to the Economic Development Zone and reviewing and making recommendations on applications for funding through the Trust Fund. Terms are two years.
The Golden Gate Estates Land Trust Committee has two vacant seats. This five-member committee was created to carry out the various requirements and provisions of an Agreement relating to land conveyed to the County by Avatar Properties, Inc. (f/k/a GAC Properties, Inc.). Members must reside within one of the 5 phases within the Golden Gate Estates area. Terms are four years.
The Haldeman Creek Dredging Maintenance Advisory Committee has one vacant seat. Applicants must reside within the boundaries of the MSTU. This five-member committee was created to aid and assist the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the MSTU, to prepare and recommend an itemized budget, and to recommend work programs and priorities. Members will be appointed from different parcels, subdivisions and/or communities within the MSTU. Terms are four years.
The Health Facilities Authority has four vacant seats. The purpose of this five-member authority is to assist health facilities in the acquisition, construction, financing and refinancing of projects in any incorporated or unincorporated area within the geographical limits of Collier County. Terms are four years.
The Infrastructure Surtax Citizen Oversight Committee has two current vacancies, one for a District 2 representative and one for a District 3 representative. Applicants should have background and experience related to financial or business management. This committee provides citizen review of the County’s expenditure of the proceeds from the Collier County and Municipal Infrastructure One-Cent Sales Surtax. Terms are two years.
The Lely Golf Estates Beautification Advisory Committee has one vacancy. This five-member committee prepares and recommends an itemized budget for the Lely Golf Estates Beautification Municipal Service Taxing Unit and aids and assists the Board of County Commissioners in carrying out the services of the taxing unit. Members must reside within the boundaries of the municipal service taxing unit. Terms are four years.
The Ochopee Fire Control District Advisory Committee has three vacant seats for applicants residing in the Ochopee Area Fire Control Special Taxing District. This five-member committee advises the Board of County Commissioners on the budget and operation of the Ochopee Fire Control District. Terms are two years.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has one current vacancy, representing the Immokalee Community Park District. This seven-member committee advises the BCC on any matters concerning acquisition, development and programs involving parks and recreation facilities in Collier County. Membership consists of one member from the Immokalee Community Park District and six members from the Naples and Urban Area Community Park District. Terms are four years.
The Public Art Committee has three seats expiring in April. Applicants should have background and experience related to the visual arts, with preference given to members of local arts organizations, architects, planners, and working artists. This seven-member committee was formed to serve as a forum for advancing public art in Collier County, and to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners in matters relating to public art policies, issues, programs, and plans for the benefit of the citizens of Collier County. Terms are two years.
The Radio Road Beautification Advisory Committee has one vacant seat. This five-member committee aids and assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of providing curbing, watering facilities, plantings and maintenance of the median areas as set forth in Ordinance No. 96-84. The committee shall recommend work programs and priorities to the County Administrator. Members shall be permanent residents within the MSTU. Terms are four years.
The Water and Wastewater Authority has one vacant seat for a lay member and one additional seat expiring in May for a technical member. This five-member authority regulates utility rates and related matters regarding non-exempt water and wastewater utilities in unincorporated Collier County. Three members shall be technical in nature, with expertise in engineering, finance and/or business administration. The remaining two members shall be lay members, appointed on the basis of individual civic pride, integrity, and experience in any area of regulation. Members are required to file a Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests each year with the Supervisor of Elections. Terms are 4 years. This is a quasi-judicial board.
