Marco Island Executive Airport New Bulk Aircraft Storage Hangar

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025

10:30 a.m.

A brief ribbon cutting ceremony will be held for the Marco Island Executive Airport (MKY) New Bulk Aircraft Storage Hangar Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 13.  A tent for the event will be set up at Marco Island Executive Airport, 2005 Mainsail Drive Suite 100 Naples, FL 34114. The tent will be on the south of the terminal and next to the MKY New Bulk Aircraft Storage Hangar (A location diagram is at the end of this news release).

All are welcome to attend. Speakers include Florida House Representative Yvette Benarroch (District 81), Commissioner Rick LoCastro, District 1 and Collier County Tourism Director Jay Tusa. Transportation Management Services Department Head Trinity Scott will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and Operations & Performance Management Division Director Darren Hutton will provide a project overview. The Lely High School Symphonic Band will play the National Anthem and other patriotic selections.  The Lely High School Army Junior ROTC Color Guard will present the colors and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Tica Barrett with New Life Community Church will lead the singing with all those gathered for this event. New Life Community Church Pastor Thomas McCulley will provide the invocation.

The new 12,000 square foot bulk aircraft storage hangar will greatly benefit the general aviation community and increase the financial sustainability of MKY. During the busy season, MKY often has 60-to-70 aircraft parked on the open ramp areas.  Many of these aircraft are very valuable and the owners appreciate the ability to have their aircraft protected. Therefore, this hangar is an expected service, and it will become a major revenue generator for the airport.

The hangar cost approximately $3.5 million and received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Florida Department of Transportation grant funds to help cover the cost.
