Clam Pass Mobilization Begins November 3

Mobilization for the Clam Pass Park Sand Reclamation Project begins on Monday, November 3, followed by a maintenance excavation of Clam Pass.

The project is crucial for restoring the inlet and adjacent beaches to their condition prior to the 2024 tropical season. The active 2024 tropical season, which included Tropical Storm Debby and major Hurricanes Helene and Milton, severely impacted Clam Pass Park. These storm impacts caused significant shoaling of the inlet, adjacent beach erosion, dune overwash, and degradation of dune vegetation and mangrove areas on the landward side of the dunes.

The restoration work will include excavating the shoaled areas within the inlet’s authorized template and placing the sand on the adjacent beaches. The project will also include dune restoration along a 2,000-foot segment of the park beach where storm impacts deposited sand into the mangrove wetland. Following the removal of the overwash sand, mangrove restoration will be performed in the affected wetland area.

Equipment will be brought onto the beach at Horizon Way in the City of Naples and will be escorted to the project site at Clam Pass Park. The entire project is anticipated to be completed by late February or early March 2026.
