47th Avenue NE & 62nd Avenue NE New Bridge and Corridor Improvements Projects 30 Percent Design Plans
Collier County, Florida
March 18, 2026
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Collier County Transportation Management Services Department staff are planning an open-house style public information meeting on Wednesday, March 18, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the 47th Avenue NE and 62nd Avenue NE New Bridge and Corridor Improvements Projects 30 Percent Design Plans. The meeting will be held at the University of Florida/IFAS Collier County Extension Office, Multipurpose Room, 14700 Immokalee Road, Naples, Florida. Residents, business representatives, and visitors are welcome to stop by to review the project displays and talk one-on-one with county staff and the county’s design consultants. There will not be a formal presentation.
Several locations in Golden Gate Estates were identified to need bridges where none currently exist. Two of those locations are 47th Avenue NE between Immokalee Road and Everglades Blvd., and 62nd Avenue NE between Everglades Blvd. and 40th Street NE. By adding bridges to these locations, there will be roadway connectivity and enhanced mobility by reducing trip lengths, providing connections to existing or planned arterials that will increase evacuation options, alternative travel routes, and reduced response times for emergency providers.
The 47th Avenue NE New Bridge and Corridor Improvements Project encompasses approximately a 3.06-mile section of 47th Avenue NE from the intersection with Immokalee Road extending east to Everglades Boulevard. The existing nine-foot westbound lane will be widened to 11 feet with an added two-foot paved shoulder. The existing nine-foot eastbound lane will be widened to 11 feet with an added one-foot paved shoulder and curb. A six-foot concrete sidewalk is proposed adjacent to the curb on the south side of the roadway. A new bridge will be constructed over the Golden Gate Main Canal. The proposed bridge shall consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, six-foot shoulders on each side, and a six-foot wide sidewalk connecting to the new roadway sidewalk on the south side.
The 62nd Avenue NE New Bridge and Corridor Improvements Project covers approximately 2.17 miles of 62nd Avenue NE, from Everglades Boulevard North to DeSoto Boulevard North. This roadway segment currently consists of two nine-foot travel lanes, narrow unpaved shoulders, and roadside ditches on both sides.
The improvements planned include constructing a new bridge over the Faka Union Canal, resurfacing and widening the roadway to 11-foot lanes, and adding sidewalks along the south side of the corridor. This project will also extend 40th Street NE from its existing terminus, south of 64th Avenue NE, to 62nd Avenue NE. Existing 40th Street NE will be milled and resurfaced. Sidewalk will also be constructed along the west side of 40th Street NE from 62nd Avenue NE to 64th Avenue NE.
These projects are designed to meet future mobility demands identified in the Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization’s 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan. Several roadways currently terminate at canals with no bridge crossings. Through the construction of new bridges, the widening of existing lanes, the addition of shoulders, and the installation of sidewalks, these projects expand travel options, create safer conditions for all users, improve stormwater management, and strengthen overall accessibility throughout the community.
The 47th Avenue NE project is being partially funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Local Agency Program (LAP), road impact fees, and gas taxes. Construction cost is currently estimated at $26.95 million.
The 62nd Avenue NE project is being funded by Collier County’s one percent infrastructure sales surtax. Construction cost is currently estimated at $15.7 million.
Project displays will be posted on the county’s website at https://www.collier.gov/transportationprojects after the public information meeting.
One or more members of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) may be present and participate at this meeting. The subject matter of this meeting may be an item for discussion and action at a future BCC meeting.
