3:00 p.m.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, November 20, at 3:00 p.m. to honor Jeanne Harvey, a Bayshore Drive pioneer and business owner who brought The Real Macaw Restaurant to Bayshore Drive more than 34 years ago.

On May 13, 2022, the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Community Redevelopment Agency (BGTCRA) held a dedication ceremony at the new CRA public parking lot to honor Jeanne Harvey, who sold the property to the BGTCRA. Ms. Harvey’s daughter, Siobhan Cleveland, subsequently contacted the BGTCRA regarding a proposed macaw sculpture to be commissioned in her mother’s honor.

The ceremony will formally unveil the Macaw sculpture at the CRA public parking lot located at 3321 Bayshore Drive, Naples, Florida. Limited parking will be available.

On July 9, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC), acting in its capacity as the Community Redevelopment Agency Board, accepted the donation of public art to be installed at the CRA public parking lot.

The sculpture received unanimous support through the following advisory reviews:

  • December 6, 2022: The Bayshore Gateway Triangle Local Redevelopment Advisory Board voted unanimously (8-0) to recommend approval of the donation and payment for shipping, installation, signage, and routine maintenance. The sculpture will serve as the first public art installation for the Bayshore Drive community.
  • December 14, 2022: The Bayshore Beautification Municipal Services Taxing Unit (MSTU) Advisory Committee voted unanimously (6-0) to recommend approval of the donation and continued routine maintenance of the sculpture should the CRA sunset in 2030.
  • December 21, 2022: The Public Art Committee voted unanimously to recommend approval of the donation to the Board of County Commissioners.

All are welcome to attend the ceremony. Speakers will include Commissioner Dan Kowal, District 4; Siobhan Cleveland, owner of The Real Macaw; and Maurice Gutierrez, Chair of the Bayshore Gateway Triangle Local Redevelopment Advisory Board and the Bayshore Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee.

Two or more members of the Board of County Commissioners may be in attendance at this public event.

Two or more County Commissioners, Community Redevelopment Agency Local Advisory Board members, and MSTU Committee members may attend the ceremony.
