Our Mission

To ensure compliance with local and State animal-related laws; to return strays to their owners and promote the adoption of homeless animals to new families; and to work towards ending the community problem of pet overpopulation.

Licensing Information

Collier County Animal Control Ordinance Chapter 14, Article II Sec. 14-33 requires that the owner of any dog(s) and/or cat(s) over four months obtain a Collier County license and a current rabies vaccination (administered by a licensed vet). Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required to purchase a Collier County License.

Pet Licensing

Licensing a dog or cat helps protect both pets and people in Collier County. Pet licenses allow Domestic Animal Services and the Collier County Health Department to verify that pets are vaccinated against rabies, an important safeguard for public health.

A current license also provides immediate owner identification if a lost pet is found and brought to the shelter while wearing its license tag, helping reunite pets with their families more quickly.

Domestic Animal Services serves as the licensing agent for all of Collier County. Pet licenses can be purchased either online or in person.

Purchase a License Online

Licenses may be purchased during normal business hours.

Cost

Domestic Animal Services offers one-year or three-year Rabies/License Tags that coincide with your rabies vaccinations.

The cost to license pets varies, depending on the age of the pet, whether the animal is spayed or neutered and if you are purchasing a one-year or a three-year tag. Prices are as follows:

One Year Tag

  • $15 Rabies/License Tag fee for spayed or neutered pets
  • $15 Rabies/License Tag fee for pets less than a year old
  • $100 Rabies/License Tag fee for unaltered pets older than one year

Three Year Tag

  • $35 Rabies/License Tag fee for spayed or neutered pets

Other Fees

  • $5 Late Fee (30 days past due)
  • $5 Replacement Tag Fee

Benefits of Licensing Your Pet

Licensing your pet may help reduce costs if your pet becomes lost and is brought to Domestic Animal Services.

If a currently licensed and sterilized pet is reclaimed by the owner before the end of the legal stray hold period, impound and boarding fees may be waived for one impoundment. Additional fees, such as microchipping or sterilization, may still apply.

Emergency Preparedness and Boarding Requirements

Maintaining a current pet license is important for boarding facilities, pet daycare programs, and emergency situations.

During emergencies requiring evacuation, admission to a Collier County Pet-Friendly Shelter requires proof of a current Collier County pet license and rabies vaccination. Admission is available on a first-come, first-served basis for Collier County residents.

At this time, only dogs and cats are accepted at Pet-Friendly Shelters.

At Collier County Domestic Animal Services, we have been fortunate to keep our doors open to animals in need, thanks in large part to the adopters who continue to give shelter pets another chance, community support, and strong partnerships.  Every adoption creates space for another animal to receive care, safety, and hope.

Together, we can help homeless animals in our community!
