Specialty Contractor Licenses No Longer Required as of July 1, 2025:

*Pursuant to Senate Bill 1142 and Florida Statute 489 (Specifically 489.113 and 489.117) the following specialty contractor licenses are no longer required in Collier County:

  1. Acoustical.
  2. Cabinet.
  3. Decorative Metal.
  4. Dredging.
  5. Epoxy.
  6. Excavation.
  7. Exterior Covering by Artificial Stucco System.
  8. Floor Covering.
  9. Insulation.
  10. Landscape.
  11. Nonelectrical Sign.
  12. Nonrecreational Pond Waterfall Fountain.
  13. Painting.
  14. Paving Block.
  15. Paving Commercial.
  16. Pollutant Storage Contractor.
  17. Reinforced Steel.
  18. Sandblasting.
  19. Satellite Dish.
  20. Sealing and Striping.
  21. Swimming pool cleaning.
  22. Tile and marble.
  23. Tile, marble, and Terrazzo.
  24. Tree trimming/removal.

Pursuant to Florida State Statute 489 and Collier County Ordinance 2006-46(PDF, 3MB), any person, firm, partnership, corporation or other legal entity who engages in any construction contracting business, or advertises or represents himself/herself as such, must have a county contractor license/certificate of competency or be a state-certified contractor. It is unlawful to contract without a certificate of competency!
