13th Street NW and 10th Avenue SE New Bridge and Corridor Improvements Projects 30 Percent Design Plans Public Information Meeting
Tuesday, March 31, 2026
5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Collier County Transportation Management Services Department staff are planning an open-house style public information meeting on Tuesday, March 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the 13th Street NW and 10th Avenue SE New Bridge and Corridor Improvements Projects 30 Percent Design Plans. The meeting will be held at the University of Florida/IFAS Collier County Extension Office, Multipurpose Room, 14700 Immokalee Road, Naples, FL 34120. Residents, business representatives, and visitors are welcome to stop by to review the project displays and talk one-on-one with county staff and the County’s design consultants. There will not be a formal presentation.
Several locations in Golden Gate Estates were identified as needing bridges where none currently exist. Two of those locations are 13th Street NW between Golden Gate Boulevard and Vanderbilt Beach Road (VBR) and 10th Avenue SE between Everglades Blvd. N. and Desoto Boulevard N. By adding bridges to these locations, there will be roadway connectivity and enhanced mobility by reducing trip lengths, providing connections to existing or planned arterials that will increase evacuation options, alternative travel routes, and reduced response times for emergency providers.
The 13th Street NW New Bridge and Corridor Improvements Project encompasses an approximately 1.37-mile section of 13th Street NW, from Golden Gate Boulevard to VBR. The existing nine-foot travel lanes and narrow unpaved shoulders along this segment of 13th Street NW will be widened to 11-foot travel lanes. Those travel lanes will also include two-foot paved shoulders with roadside ditches on both sides. Plus, a six-foot sidewalk will be added along the corridor. The existing bridge will be replaced, and 13th Street NW will be extended to connect with the VBR Extension, which is currently under construction. Improvements include a new signalized intersection at 13th Street NW and the VBR Extension, as well as roadway widening to add a dedicated right‑turn lane at Golden Gate Boulevard. Streetlighting will be installed at the 13th Street NW & VBR Extension intersection.
The 10th Avenue SE New Bridge and Corridor Improvements Project covers an approximately 1.8-mile section of 10th Avenue SE from Everglades Boulevard N. to Desoto Boulevard N. The existing nine-foot travel lanes and narrow unpaved shoulders along this segment of 10th Avenue SE will be widened to 11-foot travel lanes and two-foot paved shoulders with roadside ditches on both sides. A six-foot-wide concrete sidewalk will be constructed adjacent to the shoulder on the south side of 10th Avenue SE. Within the project limits, approximately one mile east of Everglades Boulevard, lies the Faka Union Canal, a north-south direction canal, which 10th Avenue SE dead-ended into from both directions. A new bridge will be constructed over the Faka Union Canal. The proposed bridge will consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, six-foot shoulders, and a six-foot-wide sidewalk. A new westbound-to-northbound right-turn lane will be designed at Everglades Boulevard.
These projects are designed to meet future mobility demands identified in the Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization’s 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan. Several roadways currently terminate at canals with no bridge crossings. Through the construction of new bridges, the widening of existing lanes, the addition of shoulders, and the installation of sidewalks, these projects expand travel options, create safer conditions for all users, improve stormwater management, and strengthen overall accessibility throughout the community.
Both the 13th Street NW Project and the 10th Avenue SE Project expect funding from Collier County’s One Percent Infrastructure Sales Surtax. Construction costs for each bridge are currently estimated at $12.2 million. The construction phase has not been programmed for funding.
Project displays will be posted on the county’s website at https://www.colliercountyfl.gov/transportationprojects after the public information meeting.
One or more members of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) may be present and participate at this meeting. The subject matter of this meeting may be an item for discussion and action at a future BCC meeting.
